The property that is now Westerbeke Ranch was purchased by Richard and Muriel Van Hoosear as a vacation retreat for themselves and their three daughters. The buildings and grounds developed as their family grew. Richard and Muriel loved to travel and on each trip to Mexico or Spain they would return with new architectural ideas and decorations. The ambience and family feeling for which Westerbeke Ranch is known was created as a labor of love by these two special people. Serving as a summer paradise for their grandchildren, the Ranch holds many memories for all the family members.
In the late 1960's, under the expanded vision of Patty and Don Westerbeke, the Ranch was transformed into the conference center it is today. Still a home, three generations now, as well as a business, Westerbeke Ranch embodies for many of its guests a spirit of growth, tradition, and hospitality that is truly unique.
We invite you to visit our beautiful home and workplace. To make an appointment for a tour, for more information about weddings or other events at the ranch, or for any additional information, please Contact Us.
It is with extremely heavy hearts that we at the Westerbeke Ranch announce the death of our founder and our ongoing inspiration, Patty Westerbeke, who passed away after a brief stay in the hospital on Friday November 16th from complications following a fall. She was 87. She was a familiar face to many who have come to the Ranch over the years, always happy to see people coming together to do their great work while enjoying the beauty and flavors of the Ranch. Patty lived a rich and fruitful life, with many great adventures, and wherever she went, she brought a grace and generosity of spirit with her. It is our hope that we are able to maintain her great spirit in good stead here at the Ranch. We intend to erect an altar to Patty on the Ranch so that her many friends among our guests may spend some time reflecting on her life when they come again.
With much love,
The Staff at Westerbeke Ranch
